Founded in 1972 in Trenton, New Jersey, Thomas Edison State University is one of the oldest US institutions designed specifically for adult learners. Accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, TESU offers over 100 fully online degree programmes from associate to doctoral level, with generous credit transfer and prior-learning recognition, and has awarded more than 64,000 degrees to students across all 50 states and 60 countries.

Established in 1973 by the Connecticut Legislature, Charter Oak State College is Connecticut’s accredited public online college, offering associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees in fields including business, cybersecurity, and healthcare. With generous transfer credit and prior-learning recognition, it has built a strong legacy of flexible, affordable degree completion for working adults, backed by over 19,000 alumni.

Founded in 1971 in Albany, New York, Excelsior University is a private, not-for-profit university accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. It offers more than 40 career-focused degree programmes at the associate, bachelor’s, and master’s levels, with a strong emphasis on prior learning assessment, and is well regarded for helping adult learners — including military veterans — convert work experience and college credits into recognised qualifications

Founded in 2009 and based in Pasadena, California, the University of the People (UoPeople) is the world’s first nonprofit, tuition-free, American-accredited online university, accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission.
